tVNS (Transcutaneous Vagus Nerve Stimulation)
tVNS — Transcutaneous Vagus Nerve Stimulation
Micro-current delivered to the skin around the ear (auricular region) stimulates the vagus nerve and activates the parasympathetic nervous system.
How It Works
- Small electrodes attached to the auricular region of the ear
- Gentle electrical stimulation travels via the auricular branch of the vagus nerve to the brainstem
- Activates parasympathetic nervous system; modulates norepinephrine and acetylcholine
- Promotes relaxation and recovery; enhances neuroplasticity
Applications
- Hyperarousal and chronic stress
- Attention and focus enhancement
- Pre-session preparation for neurofeedback
- Cases requiring parasympathetic activation
